Hi All
I've read some posts on here about members detecting in Woodland, but would anyone have any ideas on how to gain permission for such woodlands?
There's a small piece of woodland close to where I live that has a golf course to the north of it and is surrounded by farmland, there are bridleways and footpaths running through the woods and it is well used by dog walkers, cyclists, horse riders and children playing etc.
I've asked the local council but they say it doesn't come under council owned plots. Does anyone have any idea as to who may own/administer it etc and where to try next?
Thanks for any help
Pete

If it's surrounded my farmland chances are a knock on the farmers door may be in order,

Hi Pete, You can find the owner, it depends how much time you want to invest. So you have a golf club and farms. Firstly I would go in the golf club plus knock on every farmers door I could find. Get in the nearest pub early lunchtime sit at the bar start talking to the person working behind the bar you have the perfect spot for people coming to the bar. Anywhere local tap into petrol station, bakers, butchers. Get on the woodland especially if you have a dog easy conversation starter. Where there`s a will there`s a way. For me it would be a bit of sport and I would find the owner. If I got a blank when I did, to be honest I probably would find it funny. Good luck.........

As said, the people most likely to know are those who live/own land nearby. If the ownership ('title') of the land is registered you can find out from the Land Registry:
