Hammered Coin

Post by Podvers »

found in a farm field in Bucks.
It's clearly a hammered silver coin. Diameter 26mm, Weight 3.9g.
There are some letters we can read RA on once side O on the other and a few more we cant be sure of.
Searching on size and weight this comes up with a Henry V 1 Groat.

Any further help to positively identify would be gratefully received.

Thanks, we came down to James I as well, but the shilling is too big and heavy.
Our best view now is James I sixpence 2nd issue.

Thoughts?

Your coin is not 26mm as you say just look at the photo. 26mm would be a sixpence.......

Too big and heavy to be a sixpence, as Allectus says it has to be a shilling, although a well worn one!
