No Sound ?
Hi all
Went out detecting today with the Garret ace 300i
And started of OK but suddenly had no sound coming from the unit. Tried plugging in the headphone jack but no sound through them either.
All programs seem to be working as normal but no sound.
Any ideas would be much appreciated?
Thankyou all.

Try a factory reset - hold the power button down for 10 - 20 seconds until you hear a fast double beep - might do the trick!

My initial guess is that an audio signal is not reaching the detector speaker, or the headphone jack i.e. something in the audio generation system has failed.
How old is the detector? It appears the hands-on attention of an electronics boffin is required. A couple of the electronics wizards on this forum may be able to offer useful advice.
The Garrett website has information on their website regarding repairs in Europe, under the section of this page headed "International Warranty and Repair Service":

The cables on those 300's tend to be fickle and need fixing securely to the shaft to avoid wriggle that can cause wires to fray.
Mine died while I was out in the field. I hadnt banged it or done anything particularly damaging it just died.
The autopsy showed the wiring at the coil had just worn away and would have needed skillful soldering to fix the issue.

Have had this a couple of times with the 400i, in the 8 years i`ve had it.
Quick check and the coil cable had become unscrewed from the control box.
Hopefully yours is similar.
Cheers,
Dave.

Similarly with my Euro Ace and 300i..... Hopefully what Dave has suggested is the easy fix!Dave The Slave wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 3:39 pm Have had this a couple of times with the 400i, in the 8 years i`ve had it.

Thanks guys
Just an update checked machine again yesterday and still no sound from control box but plugged in the headphones and I have sound through them.
I am guessing that there must be a problem to the speaker area.
Did use machine and did find a hammered.

Mr Hammered found a hammered..... Sounds like the start of a nursery rhyme!! .... I would always use headphones anyway but maybe that's just me. At least it's not a catastrophic issue!Mr Hammered wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2024 7:43 pm Thanks guys
