Is anyone finding timings have improved since the revised act?
It's now meant to be:
90 days for Treasure report to coroner.
28 days for a Museum claim to be made.
In my recent experiences they're not managing to meet this at the moment.

Not meant to be critical of the people doing the jobs but to highlight possible insufficient funding.

As you say, it's all to do with financial resources / staffing of the powers that be. I've very recently received this (extract from) a reply received from my FLO when I chased up a disclaimed potential treasure item - (a posy ring that they didn't think was quite 300 years old) -

"There is a permanent backlog over issuing disclaim paperwork and a further delay from Coroners in following it up. I have no control over either process and cannot say how long it can take as it varies dependent on a range of factors".

I guess the same principle also applies to items that are in fact 'treasure'.

In other words, patience is a virtue

Correspondence with other detectorists suggest that some FLO's seem to be getting the hang of disclaiming inconsequential Treasure finds but the more complex stuff seems to be taking as long as ever. I'm just about to launch two Treasure cases so I'll certainly ask the FLO about it and then keep tabs on how it goes.

Report from BM to coroner was sorted quick time,
Coroner was a bit longer , but all moving in the same direction, now just waiting on the (TVC)

I have raised this with my FLO before and she stated that the time limits START from when they START their paperwork, and not when you hand an item over, therefore it could take months before they even start the process. As stated before, it all depends on personalities and their priorities.

Off tomorrow to the FLO, with a Silver thimble that looks to be Treasure but is also broken.
Most Silver thimbles are disclaimed and returned, would this mean the FLO has the ability to decide on the spot, whether to just Record, rather than going through the Treasure process.

Exactly, a museum has 30 days to register an interest to acquire which starts from when they recieve the completed treasure report which in itself can take an undetermined amount of time for various reasons.

Thats not how I read the revised act. Its 90 days for Treasure Report from when handed in.
AMDS/NCMD need to take this up with Mr Lewis AND the people who monitor the Treasure Act.

As there is still paperwork and the recording involved I doubt if it will be decided at the time of handing it over. I would expect that the FLO to immediately have a pretty fair idea that he or she is likely to disclaim it though. Certainly worth asking how they are handling disclaiming.
