Hi all.
Just to introduce myself.
I've been detecting on and off for over 50yrs, and recently bought a Deus.
Looking forward to all your advice and seeing all your great finds.
Cheers.

Hello Simmy, A warm welcome aboard the forum [81/]
Enjoy your browsing of the blue panel on the left which covers every aspect of Detecting and the hobby as a whole so there's something for all levels of experience.
This link - The Hammy Code
is a useful guide to submitting any finds for identification (2:)

Should you wish to provide any accounts of favourite finds (not requiring identification) or other experiences while out detecting, please feel free we're always interested in seeing them here -Detecting Finds and Stories
Good luck and enjoy your time here in the MDF community [08/]

Good advice there from Eric, he and I are around the same vintage as yourself [81/] Detecting back in the 70's was brilliant, tons of land to attack and not as many of us either. I remember the organised Digs would see the regulars turn out with their families and everyone got to know each other. Very little commercial events, smaller farms still being run by the same families, lots of undetected land and farmers who knew every inch of it and keen to share knowledge.
I started off with a Whites Coinmaster, had great success with that machine and looking back on how the later exotic machines developed, the older machines still performed very well and most people rarely changed their weapon of choice, more focus on the methodology of the hobby.
All the best, keep wrapped up and see if you can find a few finds to post on here, with info on how they were found, Liam :;@
