Old £1 coins

If you bank with Santander, you can pay in any amout. The post office (so my local branch said) needs minimum £10.

My local post office did a load for me last year (£47) but she wasn't too impressed because of the state of them although I did give them a good scrub with a brillo pad and bag them. I won't be going back there again!

I don’t think it’s right that they moan, I’ve had a couple of raised eyebrows over the years but to me the P.O. staff are missing the point. These grungy old one pound coins won’t be getting used again so as long as they can be identified as genuine, what’s the problem?

Only about another 47,000,000 more to find. I take mine to Santander in £20 bags.

It doesn't really come as a surprise that the PO admits having 'no obligation', there's a good chance some 900 others or more might well share that same view [42/]

Had another three the other day so now I have a £20 bag to go to the bank, if they don't accept them I would change my bank!!
