godfather, perhaps you can clarify what you are referring to in the phrase: "... the coin setting in the 99 mode ...". Are you referring to the 'Coin/Relic ID Scale' and the 99-Tone audio mode, respectively? If so, this is how the Nokta Simplex Ultra user manual describes each:

Coin/Relic ID Scale (page 22 of the user manual)
"By using this feature, you can differentiate the Target ID scale according to the type of target you’re looking for. If you are a coin hunter, using the Coin ID Scale and if you are a relic hunter, using the Relic ID Scale will enable you get more stable IDs. The default one is the Coin ID Scale."

99-Tone (page 12 of the user manual)
"Multi-tone discrimination mode designed for coin hunting in various mineralization."

Given those descriptions, the commonality with searching for coins, and the seeming lack of anything to the contrary, there seems to be no good reason why the Coin ID Scale cannot be used with the 99-Tone audio mode? Have you experimented using your Simplex Ultra with those settings selected together?

Or are you referring to something else?

I am not a Nokta user, but thought I would see if an answer was available in the user manual. Familiarity with the user manual is important to get the best out of the detector, and it is always worthwhile refreshing one's memory with regular re-reads. 😉
