South Lancashire and Cheshire Metal Detecting Club

Post by AndyC1 »

The South Lancashire and Cheshire Metal Detecting Club has a small number of spaces for new members and has extended our joining deadline to the clubs April Meeting. If you are interested in attending a meeting or want further information on joining please send me a private message.

The club is a physical club not a facebook group and was founded back in 1978. We generally have 40 + members attending our monthly meetings and we currently meet in Widnes.

Visitors are welcome to attend a meeting. There is a visitor’s fee of £5.00 that is knocked of the clubs membership if you join on the night. The club year is 01 April to 31 March and Membership is £34.00 a year, which includes £8.00 for the National Council of Metal Detecting Insurance.

The South Lancashire and Cheshire Metal Detecting Club is one of the 8 clubs in the Northwest Group of Clubs and takes part in the groups free display at Chester Cathedral each year.

A club meeting generally includes;
• Feedback from the North West Group of Metal Detecting Clubs / NCMD news
• Information on any digs coming up.
• Club Raffle (sometimes a Northwest Group of Clubs Raffle as well)
• Find of the month competition - everyone can look at the entries however only club members can enter and vote - There are 4 categories and finds need to have been made since the previous club meeting.
• Occasionally we have a speaker in, which is always interesting ( 3 in 2024). The local Finds Liaison Officer gave a talk at the club as well.
• We also have a free to members buffet at the Christmas meeting and most years one in the summer.
