The Quattro
Is a very good machine for pasture land, Far as sand and Beaches etc, i have know idea, because i have not tested it.
I have found where i live in the southwest, Bath district, if you deside to detect where theres lots of iron or junk, your better off with another machine.

I personally have found, using the settings with the standard coil are ie: All metals , Sence: 18 , No disc, but after a while it can get on your nerves, so sometimes i take out just 10-( Only) Thats very important.
Far as the threshold, keep it audable, so you can here the tweets, because they will tell you the deep coins etc, remember, keep your sweeps slow, the deep stuff thats worth digging are not a solid sound, Thats the way the Quattro ticks.

In my opinion the Quattro is truly a good machine, if you learn how it ticks, Its not a all rounder, so i would certainly want another machine depending on the location and ground types, Its a hard learner, so if your a novis forget it, Far as finds ive had as many good finds with my whites 1V, but there are finds that i wouldn't have found without the Quattro.
I am thinking about buying a large coil for the Quattro, now to go for the deep stuff on a field ive tredded for a while now, if i do, i will let you all know.

Do you mean the threshold sound

I have never used a quattro but cant understand why it would not perform well in iron infested fields...
I would imagine there isnt a field in the land that is iron free.....Apart from farming rubbish its a sign of occupation and potential finds......
Running the sensitivity to high might cause a problem in this environment....
Also running the machine in all metal would also be a problem.....
Is it the recovery speed after detecting a piece of iron thats the problem

Yes sorry about saying ground balance, i did mean threshold.
The only way i have found to use the Quattro is infact the all metal mode. (Recovery speed no problem)
You can go as low as 15 on the sence, but after that it turns the machine into a toy.
You need to bare in mind that these setting are only my opinion, on the farms that i have permissions, after spending to date aprox 80hrs.
I have tryed many times diffrent modes, settings etc .
But after saying all this, if anyone here who actually has had experince with the Quattro, and not what they have just read, or guessed, im all ears and willing to learn, maybe i have missed something.
As i said previously, i think the Quattro is a good machine, i wouldnt sell it, i take to work with me almost everyday, sometimes maybe only 1hr, other days all day, i'm lucky to be able to do that due to the nature of my business.
As i stated before, far as junk sites, forget it, i use my whites 1v, With the two machines im very happy with.
