@The Ferret,in your opinion do you think that the AT Pro would be good for a dedicated river detector as i have never used one but the main reason i am attracted to getting one is the fact that it is totally waterproof and reasonably priced as well,i cannot think of any other waterproof detector that comes within that price range.

Yes you could maybe pick up say a 2nd hand machine but you cannot be sure that all the waterproof seals are good ;;z

Any comments would be most welcome.

I have to agree with all the positive comments regarding the AT Pro. I've had mine about 4 months now and it's been excellent.

It also performs well on wet beach sand (Bournemouth) where it ground balances easily and I've recovered plenty of coins and jewellery from there over several visits. The sensitivity may need backing off slightly to cut out any chatter but it still picks up coins and rings etc at 6"- 8" depth without any trouble.

If I had to find a grumble about it, I would say the lack of a volume control on the machine is a negative. No problem with land headphones, which have their own controls but a possible issue if you want to use the waterproof ones, which don't. Other than that, a great all rounder of a machine for the money!
