Hi Kevin, it means exactly what it say's in the book, so as being new to the Deus if I were you I wouldn't worry about it at the moment and just get used to the machine as said previously in one of the first posts, if you do alter the threshold at a later date it will be only to your own preference, the way I see it is that it will not make any difference to your finds, they will only register as a different tone, I have had the Deus about a year now and I only alter the threshold if I am making a new program, having said that I find the factory programs OK as they are.

The 'tuning' part you mention seems to be the section talking about the non-motion pinpointing function, if you're talking about pg.21 in the manual. I can't see any mention of 'shadow' or 'sunlight' in the online english manual. The trade-offs aren't worth it as far as I'm concerned, but then I don't really use the pinpoint function so can't help you with that. The default setting works just fine for me. =))

I think they are on about the non motion side pinpoint but can't help as i have never used the pinpoint. Did see a guy called peachaven on utube setting it all up worth a check out. ::g

If you go on utube peachaven has some very good tips on the Deus he shows how to set up in non motion but i don't see the need to go that way just stick to the factory set progs and you will find the hammeys no probs. ::g

On page 21 it does say the tune will drift if there are variations in temperature and for example from sunny to shaded area, under these conditions you will need to re tune until the coil temp is stabilised. ::g (:| I should not get worried about it though. ::g Hope this helps ::g
