i drove 120 mile round trip once and forgot the battery pod on my cscope r1 it takes 8xaa batteries tried a 9v on it from a local shop as it has the same connection but it would shut down straight away when turned on, so a wasted day. rl;
ive heard of worse, people leaving there detectors perch up on the back of their cars and reversing over them. Leaving a deus control box on roof of car then searching the road side verges the next day to no avail.

Certainly feel for you, particularly after such a long drive. Worst I've done so far is to forget my headphones - got to the beach in a howling gale and could hardly hear a thing throught the Sov's built-in speaker. Got home later after finding very little, removed the dirt cover from the control box, then realised I'd forgotten that I'd also covered the speaker with electrical tape to keep the sand out!

On one occasion I forgot the headphones (pretty well essential for beach detecting) and another time forgot to put the rechargable battery pod in the detector.
