Something else worth thinking about..the Victorians may have been more attracted to the "resort" areas further along the coast such as Rhyl and Llandudno.If you look for info. regarding tourism etc. from this period these places were very busy..

I think it's a matter of horses for courses and if you want the older deeper stuff then the wet sand and even low spring tides are the places and times to look and also while the Ace is a great machine for the money it's not a beach machine. If you want to beach detect successfully then get a beach machine otherwise it's a little like scratching your head wondering why your not winning formula 1 races with an Austin A35

A very valid point. I do own a CS4PI as well as the EuroAce but detecting on Talacre beach, where there is tons of scrap, can be a nightmare when using a beach machine with no discrimination.

Keep an eye open for a Sovereign (any model they are all the same) as it's the king of the beaches and you do have the iron disc

Two years ago I bought a display box to place my first sovereign in but it's a long
time coming!
