Its not just on the beach there nasties inland as well, especially when they spray the fields with manure and pesticides can make you unwell so always wear gloves and sanitize your hands before eating.

Please remember. Using a alcohol based hand cleanser is as much use as a chocolate fire guard if you don't wash your hands first before using it

Good reminder to all who detect. Gloves are a key tool in this hobby.

Bump as we are nearing the warmer weather and beach detecting will have more followers. As ATB says, we are all guilty of occasionally ignoring hygiene rules, what ARE the best gloves anyway? Better buy some good ones .... Liam

Think Liam has raised the right question. ..the best gloves for detecting.
We need...
comfy,
cut or stab proof,
hard wearing,
breatheable if possible,
cost effective,
My choice are called Gripz. They are made of a cut resistant material, have pvc/rubber coated palms and fingers. The back of the hand is uncoated so they breathe. They come in a variety of sizes and last ages. I use them everywhere inc. the beach and all year. Get some from the builders merchants or online for just a few pounds. Just chuck em in the washer too!

This all sounds like excellent advice to a newbie like me, never really thought of wearing gloves for anything else than protecting and keeping my hands warm. I will have to get some surgical gloves and alcohol hand cleanser ASAP.
Thanks all Tony
