Those faint signals on the right of the horseshoe are 99% of the time just spots of mineralisation .. Still it's worth digging off the top few inches to see if the signal improves or stays constant .. I only dig these faint "no number" signals depending on how clipped the initial signal is .. I've had one hammered doing this out of hundreds of faint signals .. Is that worth it? Hmmm

Well, I only have half a hammered to my name (I live in the US) but man it must've been sweet when you got it as you probably weren't expecting it! For me, it's tough to take a few inches off and scan again as I'm on someone's lawn and not in a field/pasture, so I have to be pretty meticulous. But I'll try it when I can. Thx!

You might be aware of this already but I'll mention it anyway, from page 12 of the manual:
If the discrimination threshold is too low, 0 or 2 for example,
most iron will generate not low- but medium-pitched tones, as you will
practically be in the All Metals mode. In this case, the iron level setting
will not be of much use.
Using near 0 discrim is handy but once you have found the activity areas it might be best to pump it up to 3. On a chattery site you can always jack up the silencer setting and lower the sensitivity slightly to tame the beast. ::g

Ah yes, thanks for the reminder! Sometimes when you learn a new thing, and old thing leaves your brain :-)

Stick to basic 1 and GMP settings. Use Tracking GB. If it gets chattery drop the sense until it stops.
You will dig Iron! especially rings and large items that register high on the scale.
Give yourself at least 6 months using those setting to get your 'ear in' .
