Yes that's the other one I spotted he has sold another TEN since then over a two day period so looks like hes still at it . So that's another ten people who could have lost out if they were drawn into a bank transfer

Why? I have heard of many people who have lost money on ebay including my sister.

because if you dont receive your goods ebay have a money back protection policy as do paypal if thats how you paid.

call his bluff by saying you want to call round and inspect it and see what he says .say you want to check serial number and sales receipt from when it was bought as it will affect the warrenty

Simple .. For a lot of people, warranty's and after sales services are not important. Any inherent problems with them would be common knowledge by now and it's statistically fair to assume that if you look after it it'll last.
On top of that, a full priced Deus is a lot of money and in a money orientated world it's not shockingly unusual for many people to want to save on expenses if they can.
Sure, Regtons and Crawfords have both built good reputations for themselves and i'm not putting them down but.....those premises, employees wages, equipment etc. etc. that make up any dealers workbase has to be paid for by somebody and that somebody is of course the customers. Cutting away those expenses yet still getting the same product is probably also quite appealing to many.

Although i'm not one of them (i'm happy with my own machine and don't need another pretender), i imagine a few of those 20 that have been sold have been sold to forum users that were alerted to them by this thread. If they turn out to be counterfeits crippled with cheap parts then hey...those guys paid their money and took their chances. If on the other hand they turn out to be the real deal then those guys would have scored themselves a good machine on the cheap.

I contacted the seller concerned following my previous post on this subject, requesting further information, and giving him a number of options including offering to collect the Deus in person and paying cash for it but as yet I have had no reply.

Indeed, there are a number of Deus XP's for sale at the moment on ebay and in particular some really nice second hand ones. For the second hand ones I do think its a must to have the original receipt for guarantee / warranty purposes.

Just a comment about serial numbers.
A friend of mine bid on e-bay for an expensive watch, he sent an e-mail to the seller for the serial number which he sent, my friend checked with the watch company who said it was one of theirs and genuine. He bid on the watch and won, when he got the watch it was a fake the man must have gone into a shop and written down the number off a genuine watch.
Result my friend got his money back off Pay Pal.
So still take care and don't rely on anything seller will tell you.

Regarding Ebay money back guarantee......If you don't receive your item, eBay DO NOT give you your money back, they take the money from the sellers account to pay you back. If the sellers account is bogus you get nothing AVOID!!!!!

Sorry, but this is not correct. You will get protection using Paypal, but if you buy something via Bank Transfer, even if it's through Ebay, you're on your own, and you'll never see that money again. I speak from exeprience.

sorry should have explained that better your protected by ebay and paypal if you have purchased via ebay using paypal, you can then make the claim either through ebay or paypal and you will recive a refund .

why anyone would pay a total stranger by bank transfer is beyond me your just asking to be ripped off

The two sellers on the auction site are starting to get some Negative feedback about their sales some unhappy buyers .

The two sellers to watch for are mrwrights_bitsnpieces and mcdoia5 , not sure if they will try to sell again . But they or others could open fresh accounts and try Scamming again

So buyer beware , use a trusted main dealer to avoid the Scammers .

Mr Wright and mcdoia both have no items for sale now... been rumbled?

Looking at mcdoia5 negative feedback, he is getting it states that no detectors were sent, but money was refunded, can't see Mr Wrights feedback because it is now private.

Now the question is, why sell metal detectors on ebay, get people to buy them and then give them there money back without sending the detector????

you could not collect because there is no drop shipping center in falmouth for you to collect from strange he says item is in falmouth but contact details are london scam, scam, scam
