I notice that you are finding that V4 is more accurate on iron and hot rocks, do you mean sound or numbers? The coke I hit is either 25-27 or jumps all over a 70 number swing, but behaviour is a fair giveaway. I find large iron can be a bit difficult, buzzing with a quite clear ping, sometimes masking a non ferrous target, sometimes not. How do you find V4 on those? Nice write ups and a great gold find, you are approaching your goal, best of luck.
Just look how much iron I was getting before v4. It's much better at discriminating iron. The tones just buzz and the numbers remain low rather than bouncing up and down. The odd bit of big iron catches me out though. Hot rocks are a breeze now. They don't bounce around either. They stay at around 28-32. This is the new setting HOT. I really can't fault it. It definitely not as deep as GMP or DEEP but it's a joy to use.
Thanks to everyone for commenting and good wishes

Don't tempt me. It did cross my mind but I'm not that kind of guy. I kinda wish I was.

Yes, I can almost feel the gold coin now. I had two fake gold items so far so it was about time something good came along. Thanks for the feedback

When you get to my age you regret the sickies you didn't pilfer more than the ones you did.

Meeting the Locals and Making Sales for Deus!
Hello and welcome to another exciting installment of your very own Deus chronicle. I was back to this permission in a flash as the last time I was here I had a great day and I've been looking forward to hit this site again. I set up after talking to the landowner and his neighbour who wanted to meet me. (Can always lead to more permissions, you never know ). The landowner is dead set on getting himself a Deus after seeing what turned up last week so this site might dry up in no time if he's on it everyday! I'd better crack on with it. I should get at least 10% from Deus. Talk about free advertising!
Banging Signal in the First Hour
The landowner and neighbour were tailing me as I detected, eager to see me unearth more gold, like last week. I did try to explain that it's not always like that when - BLEEP, BLEEP a beauty of a double bleep sang to me. I dug down and to my great elation was a Victorian Silver Shilling dated 1889. I punched both hands into the air and shouted yes! They both laughed and left and were either impressed, or as I suspect, concerned for my sanity. With this find tucked into my finds pouch I was off to a great start and chomping at the bit to carry on.
Find, after Find after Find
I tell you, this site is absolutely jam packed full of signals. I'm pretty sure it's not been done before (private land) and the digging was constant. I found another signal in the border of the field. A 50% Silver George V 1928 sixpence in cracking condition. I found badges, buttons, bullets, dress jewelry and quite a few coin spills. Most of the finds and coins dated from 1910 - 1952. I found about 45 pre decimal coins and I believe there's still lots more to follow.
Final Thoughts
I think I got even more finds this time around. A rich diverse collection of what people dropped in that time period. I intend to research this site in more detail as I believe there must be a good reason why all the finds seem to be in this relatively small time frame. I'm thinking industry or landscaping covered the original layers. Perhaps the older items are out of detection range on this ground. I will be back there next Sunday and you will be the first to know what turns up. As always, I humbly thank you for taking the time to peruse my ramblings and ernestly hope you will join me next time. Until then everyone, happy digging and the best of luck

Oi leave some for the rest of us . Great bit of detecting there. Dying to see what the mound offers too, looks like an interesting prospect but I suspect any finds there are probably going to be deep to find easily but hope I'm wrong!
Thanks for the shout out, really honoured

That really is a great haul of coins and some of the other items are very nice as well
I wonder if it could have been an area popular with picnickers or a sledging field, the time frame could be due to trains/buses making it accessible?
Enjoyed your video and your enthusiasm for the finds like the toy plane, to me thats what its all about (Joke at the end cracked me up )
I was interested in the Gloops club button badge as had not heard of it before, and found the club song which could be a good one for those days when you are only digging scrap
Summer brings the sunshine, and winter brings the snow.
Smiles bring you happiness, wherever you may go.
When you get despondent, feeling rather blue,
Just repeat this chorus I am going to sing to you.
Smile, smile, smile,
That’s the Gloopers motto.
Always happy, always gay,
Always smiling all the day.
Never be downhearted,
t's not worth your while,
So be like Gloops and wear a...
Smile, smile , smile... Smile.

Gold Fever!!!
Hello and welcome to the new installment of Deusdiggerdiary. Today's hunt was full of surprises the first coming within 15 minutes of switching on! On my 3rd hit I dug down and was flabbergasted to see the glint of yellow in the the soil. I couldn't believe it! Another gold ring off this permission. Unfortunately the ring snapped as the ground was baked solid but I'm going to look into getting it repaired. It's made at Birmingham in 1850 so it's been there a good few years yet it looks like it was dropped yesterday.
The Finds Keep-a-coming
Just like the previous 2 hunts at this location the finds are constant. There's a fair amount of trash too but the goodies are well worth it. I found a medallion which is a contemporary forgery of a George III gold guinea! Imagine if that had been real It's just another nudge from the detecting gods who are telling me "keep at it young lad, that gold coin will be yours". Next I found a trumpet/bugle/trombone mouthpiece. Initially I thought it was silver but on closer inspection it was tinned copper alloy. On it was stamped Ward & Sons Liverpool. Other finds surfaced such as a copper alloy bangle and lots of coins (mainly from 1910 onwards)
The Hidden Cache
I eventually got to detect on one of the old industrial spoil heaps but unfortunately there was nothing of note to be found. It was only on my way back down that I got a loud signal blasting in my ears. I dug down and retrieved an oval copper alloy object about as big as my palm with a shield/crest cut out of it. I checked the hole to find an ornate military cane top that had a cannon on top of it. I rechecked the hole and there was more! What was going on? I found a marble and 2 clay marbles. I small pair of binoculars a small boot (both from Monopoly I believe). A small chain, a coin and a whistle. 10 items all from the same hole Was it a cleptomaniac's hidey hole? A child's stash he/she hoped to recover one day? Who knows but it really hit me how personal this collection was. I will never know who put it there or why but I love to imagine how it might have got there...
Final Thoughts
Well, thanks for joining me folks, on another exciting hunt. If you want to catch all the mystery and discovery as it's uncovered please take a look at my video. If you don't usually DO You Tube, just give it a chance. If you've enjoyed reading this I'm sure you'll enjoy the accompanying video.

Well done on the second gold ring, pity it is broken but at least you have both pieces
That cane top with the artillery crest is really nice as well (well worth a photo of the top) , amazing how much other stuff is coming up there, have you managed to find out any more about what went on at that place ?
