Has anyone got experience of using both the Equinox and the legendary Sovereign on a beach? I'm planning to buy a Nox for beach use but know that the Sovereign has near legendary status on beaches and am wondering how they compare before I shell out for a second detector.

Sorry, I can't comment on the Nox but I had a Sovereign XS-2 and I can confirm it was an amazing machine. I pulled a silver ring out of the black sand and the threshold was rock solid. I loved that machine. Alas, the weight, cost of batteries and the desire to try new technologies made me sell it.
I do think the Nox looks like a great machine and would definitely like have a run out with one...

Hello
I used Sovereigns for many years until the introduction of the CTX. Even then I kept the Sov as a backup machine until the Equinox arrived. I can say that the 800 will not disappoint under any circumstances. Faster, lighter & more sensitive than the sov series.
I am sure you will appreciate the Equinox over the older sov series machine. Myself, I am even leaning towards the 800 over the CTX which has been my steadfast saltwater unit. But only time will tell completely.
Order one! But be patient as they are not readily available at the present time.

I completely agree with everything that you say.
I was told yesterday that I will probably have to wait a couple of months before I can get a backup Nox 800.
