Unusual buckle for ID please.

Post by Moxey » Tue Apr 17, 2018 6:02 pm

Hi all.
Found this buckle with my Deus on Program 2. Cultivated ground in North Essex. Quite deep 8 inches. Each time I checked the hole another bit appeared. Copper alloy. With a lions head motive on each end. Is it Military or civilian? Any idea of age. Many thanks for looking.

Nice! It's a Baldric buckle - no idea of age though! Well found

Victorian military sword strap buckle. ::g Can't quite make out the design on it but they were often lions.
