Metal Detecting

Hi All,
I hope this hasn’t been covered endlessly but I would really like advice on detecting the North Devon west facing storm beaches like Putsborough and Saunton Sands.
I’ve not done any beach work before and wonder if I could be putting my time to better use in May!
Any advice greatfully accepted

I've got a feeling that a private company have the rights to Woolacombe and Saunton beaches, you might have to get permission???
