Nox coinshooting on the beach. Epic day out plus gold rings.

I woke up relatively early today and had a leisurely shower and breakfast before setting off for the beach. Despite the overnight rain it was a very bright and pleasant morning. The first couple of places that I tried were useless, probably because I hammered them during the week, but I finally found somewhere with no shortage of coins and weights. Once the finding started it never really stopped and the only limitation was how fast I could dig. Most of the targets were about 6 inches or less down and nothing was more than about a foot. This seems to be the practical limit of the Nox for ordinary detecting although I have occasionally managed to squeeze out a bit more depth on wet sand.

I ended up with about five kilos of lead (I had to empty my ammo pouch twice), about 150 coins totalling just under £40, two gold rings and very little junk. I only found a single solitary ring pull all morning! :D

It is interesting to note that the target ID on the Nox seems to be pretty good and for a while I was only digging whispers that came up between 20 and 22 and every one was a deep old style pound coin (I'll take them). The 6.5 gram 18ct white gold ring was also a 21 signal and the little 9ct one was a 10. Funnily enough the 7.4 gram yellow gold 9ct gold ring that I found during a very sparse session on a different beach yesterday also came in at 21. Anyway it's certainly reassuring to be getting decent sized gold with the Nox at last and I've managed to get my first bit of higher carat gold of this year. ::g

I don't usually coinshoot mate but it is certainly great fun with the Nox because it is so light. After exactly a month I have just about paid for the machine with my finds, which really isn't bad at all considering that most of them have been from beaches which are very well hunted. ::g

Hello 'Fred' ::g That was a monster coin session and no mistake ::g The 'Nox' certainly seems to be carving a name for it'self, but there's no doubt in my mind that the finds resulting, are 90% the result of operator expertise ::g Nice one Fred and nicely related too. Regards ss47

Nice gold finds there.

Shame about all the old 50p and £1 coins - would have been a useful amount of spends.

I've recently taken a few £1 coins in to my bank who exchanged them no probs. Not sure how they would react to them in that condition ? :D

Fortunately I have a secret weapon whch can get them up to pristine in about 15 minutes. ::g No problem exchanging them at all. Good job really as I have about £500 quids worth built up since they went out of circulation and I reckon that I'll be finding them for decades to come. :D

All the 50p pieces are current ones and should also clean up fine. The smaller stuff will get a quick clean and go through a Coinstar machine.

Fantastic haul Fred, recovering that knife might have saved someone from a nasty injury as well ::g

Did you only dig the one ring pull because there wasnt much junk or can you tell the ring pull signals apart from the coins and rings?

In the end I was ignoring the signals from very small targets, which are quite obvious, but digging everything else. There just weren't any ringpulls about. Target IDing with the Nox in multitone is a mixture of sounds and numbers but the numbers on there own are nowhere near as precise as the two number combinations used on the CTX. ::g
