CS 4PI first timer.
CS 4PI first timer.
Got my new CS 4PI yesterday. Out this morning to Swansea beach midway between High and Low water.
1st. What an awesome machine. It will has many have said pick up on anything.
2nd. I will have to learn and memorize the different settings and tones.
3rd. No false readings at all.
4th. First lesson Ha, first hole I dug the scope was picking up on my shovel near by about a foot.
2nd hole nearby £1 coin, then several bottle tops, old screwdriver, batteries, small lead bits later a £2 coin.
5th. Can't wait to get my scoop instead of shovel.
6th. Must try and find best areas to explore on this beach.
7th. I never attempted to go near the dry sand area which is littered with all sorts.
Well I've got £3 towards cost of machine.
Best Wishes All.

I also have the same machine and find detecting at the lowest tide possible gives the best results
Where you find fishing weights you will find Gold

Yes those PI machines find everything. As you said keep away from the dry sand often the further you go down the wet the less rubbish there is, usualy !!
Look out for cuts on the beach they are good places to search, like the one I am standing in

Hey, Thanks lads.
I'll give both a try next time out. The beach I use looks like it slopes down for approx 100 yards (about half way to a very low tide) and then seems to level out to low tide mark. I'll take a picture next time.

What you reckon the best settings. I just set to low green on both for first try?

Re: CS 4PI first timer.
Hi fraximus pi detectors are awsome on the wet sand. I had half a dozen musket balls, a lead mini ball bullet and a 303 bullet plus 2 1929 half pennies and a two shilling coin down Swansea bay on Saturday. Loads of shrapnel everywhere down there from the anti aircraft guns that were based on mumbles hill during the second world war. Finds from the bronze age to modern turn up on this beach. Check out this guys YouTube channel to see what can turn up down there
Good luck
