Please help with ID

Post by Bencal » Thu May 17, 2018 9:00 pm

Found this a couple of weeks ago and it's driving me mad x;
Don't know what it is or what it's off can someone help
Made of bronze and cast not plate looks like it's been broken at one end and a serrated edge
The field it came from is mostly Roman and Bronze Age finds
My first thought was part of a Roman brooch but can't find anything that fits ;;z
Then a spoon what do you think

Thanks for looking

It's not broken at the side where the handle would be only at the bottom

.... or grinded flat by the sand?

To me too it looks like a roman spoon.
Can look in a catalogue for a fitted model later if you wish.
Good luck hunting.

Wish I could, It looks like an oxidized copper something. You really need to go find the other half for a better ID. :D

It looks very much like a tea caddy spoon.

At your wish.

Two examples which to me look the same (and i have more).
Both roman, 3th century.

Good luck hunting.
