CS1MX - Question - Cable Length seems too short

Post by FinzeanOutdoors » Fri May 18, 2018 2:18 pm

Hello,

I've just got a new CS1MX

The cable between the coil and the control box seems very short, to the point where I have to stretch it to put the bottom end of the shaft in to it or remove it from the top end of the shaft and i'm worried about it breaking or causing issues.

I bought a CS770XD previously, which turned out to be faulty anyway, hence the CS1MX and it had no such problems, the cable was definitely longer

Can anyone from Csope help with advice or reassurance please?

I have one too, am not the shortest person, and never confronted a too short cable.
Could be the cable was broken once and made shorter to get repaired.\
Or the cable is turned around the stem to many times?
Good luck hunting.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

This behaviour happens when the coil isn't yet wrapped around the stem. This when I insert the lower stem and coil into the upper stem. Once they are together there is no problem. I just don't want to keep tensing the cable when putting the stem together if that is not how it's meant to be

So is this without any cable wound around the shaft?

Yes, once the bottom shaft is inserted into the top one there is no problem. I had a CS770XD which did not have the same problem, the cable was long enough

All the online pics of CS1MX's show multiple windings of excess cable around the shaft. If you bought it new then contact the dealer.

I agree with Easylife.
But i can't figure that it came from the fabric like this. Probably a used one then which once had a broken cable, shortened to get it repaired?
Good luck hunting.

I have uploaded some photos of the machine, is this normal? The cable becomes highly taught

No that does not appear right, contact the supplier and ask them what they think, you wont get a answer from the manufacturer or supplier on this forum. Are you extending the machine right out because you are very tall?

Thanks Andy, I wasn't sure if there were manufacturer reps on here but I'll contact the supplier directly.

I am quite tall but the previous machine I ordered a CS770XD was fully extendable without tension in the wire, pity it was faulty from the shop :(

You may be able to unwrap the wire a little more and secure it using velcro straps, but that doesn't solve the issue of it looking rather short, that said, it looks like you have it fully extended to the point of the rods falling out. I guess you must be around 6,4". If the supplier cant help try the velcro fixings, before returning it perhaps, good luck.

Do the wires have to be wrapped around the stem for a detector to work properly or is this a misconception which I have?

There's a good inch and a half of lower stem inside the upper stem in the photos

Cable is only wrapped around a stem to take up any surplus and to avoid false signals caused by cable movement. It can be anyway as long as it is secured.
