Humble Offerings

Post by Ladybird66 » Fri Jul 13, 2018 10:03 am

As heading says, humble offerings, but I'm proud of them anyway.
I only went because I kept feeling guilty at not using my new Equinox. 5 mins in the open, on the beach and I thought, I should turn round and go home. The Sun was blazing down on the back of my neck and I could feel it burning. Then I spotted it ! not too far off, a small area of stones. Not usually there I thought, I cant ignore it.
It was just jammed pack full of signals. What a test for me and the machine. I thought a couple of times what would Fred make of this ?
I determined to dig any interesting signals to get used to what came up. Managed not to dig any iron and was very surprised not to find any coins. I only managed just over an hour and had to admit defeat. Thought I was going to keel over a couple of times.
Had to take the tablets and lie down when I got home. Still I'm really glad I made the effort, even though theres not much to show for it. Its renewed my confidence in the 600 and I can't wait to get back.
I s'pose I could say I found silver (black button) main body is metal but the insert is almost certainly silver.

After comparing Freds settings I was surprised to find that Beach 1 on the 600 is almost identical so stuck with that. Very impressed.

That would be nice oldartefact but I think at best it’s just a bit of modern silver gilt, part of a bracelet I’d say. ::g

Not modern and highly likely to be treasure... your item is the female side to a corresponding male side ... which would have looked something like this ... please scroll down the link below.

Good grief, I was thinking you meant the bright, shiny thing.

The tiny little thing fascinated me because when wet you can see there is something inside it. I had no idea what it was part of. I’ll see if I can get a close up of it. Can only do it on my phone though. The iPad camera is really good but produces the wrong file type to post.

There was I thinking you should have gone to SpecSavers. Ha ! Not much wrong with your eyes ::g

Hey now hold on. You’ll have me running all over the place to record at this rate. Na ! It’s modern. One you need to see in the hand.
I’ve got a couple of pics of the round thing. It’s a bit complicated getting it down sized and posted. Takes time and I’m off the dream land in a mo. I’ll have a go at it tomorrow ::g

p.s. Cath’ll throw a fit if I ask her to post any more of my pics :-O

I think that the nice bit is similar to the Tudor dress fastener but, as you say, from a junk bracelet. A good selection of bits and very surprised that a few coins didn't turn up too. Ah well, perhaps next time! :D

New pics from LB.

Having seen these there is no doubt in my mind that no precious metals are involved with these items, or any age to them either. Sad though :(

No, I’m sure it isn’t but the black button, almost certainly is. ::g

Anyone seen anything like it ? The lettering, top and bottom says ‘REGIMENT’ though I’m sure irs not military. No makers name, no Hall Marks. Not sure what the Black part is, could be enamel.

So, first Beach silver for my 600 ::g
