Hello Nigel, I'm sure you will have produced one, but unfortunately your photo of the reverse has not loaded! ss47

I can not find any information on this button. I have tried the livery button identification site and it's not showing that button
Is there any other sites out there
Cheers Nigel

Found this frustrating.

Seen the button for sale on eBay in the past put the information on who it is isn't there.

Description is boar and thistle which looks right to me ?

Other than that I have drawn a blank.

It's a BIRLEY family livery button.

BIRLEY.JPG
Birley of Lancashire....
http://www.birley.org/TOC.htm

Fairbairn's description of the crest.....
A demi-boar sa., collared arg., the chain reflexed over the back or., supporting a branch of wild teazel ppr., and charged on shoulder with a mill-rind, also arg.

"sa"(sable) = black. "arg"(argent) = silver. "or" = gold. "ppr" = proper.

That's near Kirkham where the Birleys had textile mills in the 17 & 1800s......
http://www.birley.org/Kirkham.htm

The teasel plant (on their crest) was apparently used in the cloth-making process during that period.
