Sceat for ID please. Plus some electrolysis action

Post by Ten pence! » Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:07 pm

Went back to the pea field today to see if we could find anymore Saxon coins, and this is what I found! Been looking through Spinks and clueless! Other bits included a smooth Lizzy halfgroat and a plough damaged James I halfgroat. Found with an Equinox 600 at around five inches, field 2, running all metal, iron volume all the way down to 1, tones all the way up to 25, max, 5 tones, multi frequency, iron bias 0 and set to fastest recovery speed (3) due to all the iron about.

Note the state on the coin before and after, and something surprising, uncleaned the coin read 12 on the Equinox's meter, after being zapped it reads 14! Clearly the crud reduces the conductivity of the coin.

Again many thanks A, is it just me or were these early Saxon coins designed by tired three year old's? The images on many of these coins is bizarre to say the least!
