Dodgy coil connector Nel Tornado-anybody fix them?

Hi
Am a bit fed up this morning.
My Nel Tornado on the GMP has developed a fault.
It’s definately at the connection to the coil bottom end.
If you waggle it the machine goes bleeping nuts.
Pentechnics dude was sympathetic but advised because they are full of black resin
that they are not really practical to fix.
So am I stuffed or not?
Thanks for any advice ::g
The standard coil feels tiny 8-|
Cheers.

Are you sure the coil is not detecting the moving wire? A resistance test at the plug is the only sure way to test it.

Pretty sure easylife-if I have the cable stretched away from the coil
and waggle the lug at the coil it gets very sparky....
Cheers ::g

Maybe the only thing is to carefully dig out the wires, find the break and repair it. It's a weak spot where the coil gets folded.

hello, if you purchased new they have a 2 year warranty plus another year if you register online, i would try contacting NEL on service@nel-coils.com or Regtons as i think the importer. hoping either can help, good luck

Hi garrettoldboy,
Unfortunately it was an eBay purchase second hand-so perhaps I'm being a bit miserly
And should just get another one.
Regtons aren't interested though they were helpful...and thought pentechnics would be worth a shout....helpful again but not up for it due to the method of construction with the black plastic
Infill-deemed to risky to go cutting into the black stuff
I have dropped it off at an electrically minded friends just now....
I presume the connector rubber pushes into the completed coil and should come out with some wheedling.
The fault definitely feels like it's just there at the junction between coil and cable.
Fingers crossed.
Thank you for replying
All the best
Rory ::g

Hello Rory ::g Sorry to hear of the cable failure on the Nel Tornado coil.

I have dropped it off at an electrically minded friends just now....
I think this is always worth the effort as a 'last ditch attempt at reair. I can understand some official repair sources being reluctant to deal with these faults as they invariably necessitate fairly intrusive work just to investigate the cause with the probability that a repair is not possible ;;z
Hopefully your pal will meet with success ::g Keep us informed please - Regards ss47

Edit:- I should have added that from my experience (of attempting a similar repair), following making good the fault, producing an effective grid-screened insulation of the repair proved very difficult to achieve! Mine failed within 6 months :( Good Luck

I'm having exactly the same issue with my NEL Tornado coil. It's bleeping like mad. Then the signal disappears altogether! [70/]
