Does anyone use an XP MI-6 as a stand alone?

When my MI-6 pinpointer is wireless paired to my Deus it performs brilliant and is an absolute pleasure to use, but when used as a stand alone I quite hate it because it's way too quiet and the vibration is clunky awful. Is that just me or my particular MI-6 pinpointer?
My previous Garret (carrot) AT Pro-pointer was near perfection as a stand alone pinpointer so it looks like another one will be joining the family quite soon.
Having said that though, my very first Garrett carrot was quite problematic, it seemed to work sort of okay but really had multiple random issues. I was never entirely happy with it and phoned the seller twice on occasions about my concerns but was told that it sounded about normal. The issues just got worse and after almost one year's use it decided to constantly sound off and would not switch off at all without disconnecting the battery - so it was replaced under warranty. The replacement was absolutely flawless and was like comparing a rolls-royce to the knackered old Skoda that my old one acted like from new. The point here being that you won't actually necessarily know if something is working quite right or not unless you have something to compare it to. In this case I would have been put right off the Garrett carrot by my faulty one had I not experienced the use of a perfect one. My MI-6 when used as a stand alone seems to work without fault but just not in a very user friendly way compared to some others?
