Token coin or trash

Post by Stevenc »

Hello All,
As a newbie I had my second outing with my Garrett euro ace at the week end , as I'm still very keen I dug every signal. Soooooo after many nails and cans I found the attached, its slightly bigger than a 2p but has no visable markings. Checked my reference books but nothing jumps out, any ideas ?

Cheers
Steven.

Hi Steve, can`t quite see the diameter but looks to be 27mm or 28mm which may be a Georgian Halfpenny.
If you run it under the tap some detail may show, even the direction of Monarchs head can narrow it down.
Tend to use Numista as a guide for coin size, weight etc.
Hope this helps.
Cheers ::g
