A game of two halves...

Post by Bargeman » Sun Mar 17, 2019 5:31 pm

This morning started with a return to the same field I went to last Sunday, and another dig with the weekend wanderers, and again I found nothing, I never even dug anything, the field was dead to me, and I was using my GMP, and also my Nox 800, not a signal, very strange.
I then had a problem with the Nox! after stopping for a tea, my headphones would not work, they were connecting Ok, I could see the little headphone symbol on the controller, but nothing coming out of the phones?
In the end I had to do a full factory preset, before I could get them to work again??? So I then had to reprogram the mode I was using. All very strange.

After this, I decided to pack up, and go and meet up with Bob, and Derek, at one of our permissions, the orchard field. I like this little field, it produces lots of old buttons, more than a few crotal bells, and it is also were I found a hammy and a cut half, so it has been good to me ::g

After parking up and clambering ungracefully over a high barbed wire fence, I joined the others in the field, switched on the Nox, and it all worked perfectly again. my first find was a nice old beehive thimble (picture later) I then found two parts of a toy cowboy gun, before getting a perfect hammy signal on my Nox running in "field 2" on digging the signal I saw a small round silver disk in the dirt, and I thought oh yes another hammy, but I was wrong, I had in fact found a nice small silver cufflink with hearts and crown. ::g :D B-)

So the day ended better than it started, and it was fun to detect with Bob and Derek again. ::g

I think the detecting gods are telling you that detecting with Bob and Derek is the only way to go ::g

That cufflink is truly lovely- I would be very, very happy with that find l;.

My Beehive thimble, not quite as nice as Shane's silver thimble, but I am happy with it...

Well done. ::g Any problems that I've had with the headphones have been well and truly down to user error. Actually I've just realised that I've had the Nox over a year and, despite some initial misgivings over the build quality, I've had no problems yet. :D

I did a google search on the problem, and it appears to be quite common, and it seems the answer is to do the factory reset as I did and start again x;

The problem would appear to be related to the control box, rather than the phones, as it sees the phones, but does not transmit any sound. I may drop mine lab a message and ask them ::g

Nice bit of treasure there. I had a single one which went through and it was thought they celebrate the marriage of Charles II.

Hi Bergerman

I was on the weekend wanderers dig on Sunday, I looked out for you at lunch time but guess you had left by then.

As you say the field wasent giving up much and I must admit, I spent as much time watching the Steam Trains chugging past the top end of the field as detecting 98;

Sounds like you did the best thing, nice find.
