Hammered for ID please

Post by Spearhead »

I went back on to the "written-off" field again today. Last Sunday it gave me two hammereds and a Norman buckle plate.
Today it gave me four more hammereds . Three of them I believe I know what they are; an Edward 1st Dublin penny, a Lizzie three pence and a broken Lizzie penny.
The one that I am not sure of is the coin shown on its own. I presume it's an Edward 3rd penny but not sure as it could be Eddy 1? The mint could be London or Durham?
I found them with my Nox 800. All had a tid number between 9 for the smallest and 16 for the largest. The depths varies from 3 to 6". Found using field 1.
Just shows how dangerous it is to write off a field!
I have now had 9 hammereds from this field, two of which have been Irish which is quite a high ratio.

Extremely nice finds. Wonder if it's the Equinox that's brought it to life? ::g

Yes, I think the Nox has definitely made a big difference to my silver finds rate.

Thanks Lowland. I think that it's a combination of the Nox and the wet ground that is making the difference, along with a bit of luck.
