Which maps please?

Post by Mancave-man »

Hi, could anyone recommend which of the 1" map series reprints give the best detail please. Is it the "Godfrey" ones or the "David & Charles" :-/

Thanks in advance and keep plugging away at the mud!

Can only speak for the Alan Godfrey maps as have a set local to me but the detail and print quality is very good in my opinion.

I use

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by ... ht=BingHyb

there loads of choices in the dropdown menu. There's not much pre 1800 detail wise so not overly useful to me. You can see the field boundaries that were ripped out in the 1940s. Old names forge, Mill, Manor and so on.
