Hello, I am a novice detected and since I live within spitting distance of Blyth beach I was wondering if I could go there or do I need permission. If so who do I ask. I just want to do a bit practice. Thanks any advice is greatly appreciated

Hello Oscarcat-2, Most beaches are controlled by the Crown Estates but some are either privately owned or in some cases under the control of the local council. The best way forward would be to contact your local council and ask if the beach is within their area of responsibility, if it is check for any additional restrictions that may apply.
Take a look at the MDF Guide as there is some information on beach detecting etc.
Good Luck - Regards ss47

Blyth and seaton sluice are popular with local detectorists, the council are amenable as long as folk fill holes in and stay between the high and low water marks. There's a few local groups who do organised digs inland as well.
