Hi all,
I got a bit of an interest in detecting and just gone and bought a 2nd hand Nokta Macro anfibio detector with no clue how they work or if its any good.
It looks in pretty good nick and all the bits are with it but I didn't realise how complicated they were. I thought I could turn it on, point it at the grass then start digging for gold when it beeps. In all seriousness though I'm not really that ignorant when it comes to detectors but not far off.
I thought they were supposed to be quiet until it detects metal, however I turn this one on and it makes all sorts of noises even when I lift it up off the floor
Have I bought a Dog? or just need to tweak some settings?
2nd hand detector

If the machine is in good working order I am sure the the machine should work brilliantly
I have personally used many prior model versions which work great and even though I have not personally used that model I am sure it should be a very capable machine
You will need to go through and dissect the manual and try to understand the various settings, read the manual and read it again and some more

If it's making a lot of superfluous noise, reducing the sensitivity is the starting point for pretty much all detectors. The manual should have enough info to get you going. Pretty sure there'll be someone along with more specific knowledge of the Anfibio soon ....

Not really a starter machine I'm afraid. Many a would-be detectorist has floundered in the hobby because they purchase a too technical machine. Persevere but the learning curve is steep.
