Hi,
Many thanks to the mods for setting up these 2 new sub forums for Score users. It seems I’m the first to post, but hopefully it will bring the new categories to the attention of more members.
Just wondering if anyone had found any hammereds, and if so, in what range of target id’s?
Hopefully this part of the forum will become a great help to users of these new machines - I certainly hope so as I need all the help I can get!

There is no 'Target ID for hammered'....two many variables.
Ignore numbers & use the tones/signal - that goes for ANY machine

As a ballpark guide, "typical" hammered coins will ID over the range "modern small cupro-nickel 5p coin" up to "20p coin" , so you certainly don't want to ignore / notch out etc that range. Larger hammered coins will read higher than that. They are unlikely to read higher than a 1 pound coin.
So there you have a pretty broad range, hence the advice to not pay much attention to ID numbers, good finds can be just about any ID.

Sorry, I think I gave the impression that I was a complete novice who expected the target id’s to be a definitive identification of finds!. When I detected years ago, I seem to remember that the couple of hammereds I did find did fall between certain id’s.
I was just wondering if any Score users had found hammered, and what their experiences were.

This is a well mooted topic, just to add substance to replies already provided (if any's needed) typing 'ID numbers' into the forum's search facility brings up 8500 results to trawl through......

Yes, that's what I thought, especially stating "I need all the help I can get".
If it's any help, the very lowest ID's could probably be dismissed, especially if there is a lot of coke in the ground. But cut quarter farthings, round farthings, and similar-sized hammered coins, can ID below that of the Cu-Ni 5p.

Well, you did ask a novice like question.Rottcodd wrote: Thu Mar 07, 2024 4:49 pm Sorry, I think I gave the impression that I was a complete novice who expected the target id’s to be a definitive identification of finds!. Go check the useless numbers on a cut quarter at depth against an (for arguments sake) a Charles I shilling @ 2".
See how ridiculous those numbers are now?
