Metal detecting in Outer Hebrides
Hi has anyone detected on Isle of Harris ?
I've received permission from Harris trust but unsure which beaches they own and which are private.
Also applied to Isle of Lewis but not received reply back
are they just as 'friendly'🙂and what beaches do they own?
Would really appreciate your advice
Thanks

Check out this thread, I would just go ahead unless it is specifically prohibited ie army range! You probably wont find much but good luck [81/]

Detected a few beaches way back in the 80's when i was working there for a while. Found a few pre-decimal and decimal coins now and then ,but generally very few signals. Might have changed a bit since then as the area is a popular holiday destination so you never know there might be a few chubbies on the beaches.

Great thanks for info -at least there will be fewer ring pulls
on the beaches once I've finished.🤣

I would try near any old harbours or piers and river mouths, anywhere people might have been in the past.
