Guys, need a bit of help from you DIY types, I am about as much use at DIY ,as someone who is completely useless!
Anyway, to business. I have an old C scope 950 D which, when extracting from beneath various boxes in my garage, I discover that, one of the lugs on the search head, that the stem attaches to, is broken.
I contacted C Scope, who do not have any old search heaads for this machine. Being a bit nostalgic, as I found lots of good stuff with this machine, back in the dark ages, I would like to effect a repair if I can.

Basically, it would require building up the lug with some sort of stuff, akin to the old plastic wood my Dad used to use for modeling. I cannot take a pic, as just now, I do not have acess to the machine (another story). can anyone recommend a substance that I can use to rebuild the lug, which will need a hole in it, to push the tightening screw/bolt body through?

Thanks guys

Ray

It might be worth looking at Sugru or one of the Chinese clones. I'm not sure it'll work, but it is cheap and just might ...

You often see these old C Scopes on ebay for parts or untested for not too much money, so maybe you could take a coil from one and use it on yours? I don't know if all the 650s/750s etc had the same coil but C Scopes might tell you.

I use proper epoxy resin

And fiberglass woven cloth

As I have these knocking around

Done a few never had one fail, and I ain't careful with my detectors, it's all in the preparation

Don't use cheaper polyester resin

It will work, but you can chip it off

I suspect the original slow cure JB weld will work, I haven't used it on a coil, but have repaired other plastic components with it

I gave up using Araldite about 20 years ago, I use to find it a bit temperamental, you could mix two batches one would be fine and one would fail for no reason, it my have improved by now
