Metal Detecting

Hi everyone,

I have been metal detecting for approximately one month now and I am very much loving it. I decided to get into metal detecting because I love history and a couple of my friends have been trying to get me into it for about a year now. When I was a kid I used to love "fossil hunting" and I did that at every available opportunity, I know this is not the same thing but the "search" feels the same.

Being a bit of a tech-head and knowing how quickly I get bored of "simple" tech, I decided to start out with a Nokta Legend, despite being warned off getting a "complicated" machine by absolutely everyone I talked to about what machine to get. Honestly, I love it and have not found it to be that complicated at all. I would certainly not tell a new dectectorist not to get something like that if they were confident with tech.

How are you getting on with the legend? I also have one, was very daunting at first and thought it'd be far too complicated for me but actually I'm really enjoying it

I love the Legend to be honest, I can understand why people would point beginners in the direction of a more simple machine though. It is a steep learning curve for sure, but certainly worth it. When I went out on Sunday I changed from 2 tone to Pitch tones, I will not be going back to 2 tone, have you tried Pitch tones?

Thank you, I have found handfulls of bullet casings on my 2 beach trips so far, looking forward to getting onto some inland digs though.

I've recently stepped to 60 tone, was using 6 tone prior to that, haven't messed with pitch or thresholds etc.
I'm usually running M1/M2 (M3 if it's damp), 60 tone, field, G discrimination.
