hi ladies and gents,
I havent been out for a while but the big tides had me back out today. I wondered around ammoung the remains of fishing stakes that have appeared since the last time I was out. First signal was 14 on the nox and turned out to be a piece from Ack Ack shell. Its strange material it's ribbed made of lead but it's alloyed with something, as it's harder to bend than you would expect for lead. I Walked about pretty aimlessly just trying to establish an area with a few tight signals earning a more concentrated effort from me.I had to drop the sensitivity down 18, I'm not sure why but when the grey clay is close to the surface the detector false quite a bit.

More walking than digging, though I had a few heart stoppers including a large bullet (24) and a piece of Shrapnel (26). A few more bits and piece of Anti Aircraft shells but after 2 hours or more the draw over to the area where The lead balls show and usually something a bit special. the sand has moved and I was in an area that I wasn't totally sure it was the right place. I was pulling the odd ball but not like before, maybe I had the majority of them, who knows After an hour I had a signal that if I'm honest didn't really excite a 12 one way and 9 the other, but digging wasn't to difficult so why not. Imagine my surprise when a very small diamond engagement ring popped out.The ring must have been lost not long after it was bought as the hallmarks' were very plain even to my eyes which aren't the best.

When I got it home the halmarks were a bit confusing. The makers name were clear enough L.W&G the hallmark clearly 9 ct,but then the word PLAT which I'm assumed was platinium? After that was a number 16 0r mayby 18 or even 1C not sure what thats about. Then further around were the numbers 9/20 again no idea, there was no town mark so again I'm assuming its foreign.
