Metal Detecting

The above are the finds from a mornings detecting on my favourite beach yesterday using my pulse machine mostly on the wet sand. Most of the 2p's came from a patch about 5x10 metre where the tide had collected them together, a welcome sign that the beach is at last moving some of the sand about. I never managed to find where the £1's had been dumped, probably still to deep yet as would the gold have been judging from my past experience of this beach.

The only others detecting were a lovely couple from the Ashfield MD Club on holiday in the area who I managed to chat with several times over the session swapping experiences with. They usually detect on land but occasionally detect on beaches and it was very interesting talking to them.

I picked up some information that members of this board may find useful. They both used different model White's detectors for land use but on the beach they reacted quite differently. She was using a XLT model and it did not like the wet at all but was happy on the dry as are most machines. On the other hand he was using a DFX model which had been programmed for the beach and managed OK on the wet.

Anyway my total coins came to 56 coins and the usual scrap that went in the bin.

Not much for a hard mornings digging in wet sand but more than made up for by the experiences I heard of.

Known afew use dfx's on the beach and do ok , surprised we dont see more 705 being used
There lighter than other minelabs and give a read out so you've an idea what your digging

Better £1.40 than £0. Those coins also look in much better condition than some of the ones I've had from wet sand too. What machine were you using?

I'm still wondering whether or not to trade in some old bits and get a PI next year.

It's a 15 year old White's Surmaster Pulse still going strong and recently been to the bottom of a lake with a diver friend.

What sort of depth do you get with those 2p's with a Surfmaster on the wet sand?

Heard some lads say they can tell iron by the tone ? is that the case
