Electric fence plays havoc with Deus!

I am just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem I had with my Deus today. I headed to a field I have been waiting to get on for a few weeks. It's got a mound clearly visible - and this is marked as such on the old OS maps.
When I get there, I am detecting okay for about ten minutes and then I notice my Deus is bleeping every second or so. It really becomes annoying to the point I have to stop. It's lightly raining, so I wipe everything down and even remove the coil cover and dry everything off. But the noise is still there. I even try it without the remtote and then the backphones - but no change.
I change to different programmes and the only one that gives me any respite is wet beach! I notice electric fencing around the field, but I don;t think that can be the problem because I am not on top of it. I am at least 20 yards away.
In the end, I think the machine is knackered so I start walking back to the car aftre putting in a call to Regtons to say I am sending back the machine for it to b looked at. After all, it's less than a month old. Half way across the next field, however, the noise disappears. Machine starts behavng itself.
I drive to another permission and use the machine for another couple of hours with no problems at all.
Regtons ring me back and tell me the problem is the fence! They say the only machine that is not affected is a Minelab Explorer because it can cancel out the interference. I have to say, I am disappointed that a £1400 machine struggles with an electric fence that is 20 yards away. There were another couple of fences in the field, but I was not on top of any of them.
Has anybody had any similar experiences and any cure? Thanks.

Probably it's because it's wireless.

Hi i may be wrong buy i think electric fences and pylons affect most detectors . Ive had c scope ,tesoro and a minelab and all suffered to some degree.Think its part and parcel of detecting. John

Hi, had same problem with recent club dig.All our detectors, garrets, laser ,tesoro, and my whites XLT were badly affected. As previously mentioned it was only the minelabs that kept working.
I have had my XLT for about 12yrs and have used it in fields with eletric fencing before without any problems, I wonder if they have increased the amps in these new fences and that is why we are having problems even some distance from them?? :-/

Yes, if it was the remote headphones why would settings make a difference? Probably a sensitive machine.

We have the same problem but you can work through it, you have to ignore the pulses. We had a denarius come up so I'm glad we did! Takes the fun out of it a bit and really slows the process...

Find the battery on the fence and switch it off, but make sure thats ok with the farmer and switch it back on again when you have finished the area?

Is that before or after the animals have escaped as a smallholder if i had given you permission to detect on my fields i would seriously be horrified at your suggestion and more to the point would worry that it may be somthing you as the detectorist would do. just say you forgot to turn it back on there is always human error it could be devastating if you were running prize bulls or mares with stallions the other side

perhaps you were joking pete but the farming world does not revolve around our metal detecting far from it we have to fit into there way of life not the other way round

only giving you my take on it as a land owner not having a go at anyone personally hope you dont mind me jumping in with thoughts from the other side SORRY

It's a fair point, happily our farmer will turn it off for us to cover a section. Unfortunately the national grid are not quite as helpful with their under ground power lines...

Thanks for all the replies. I suppose my more subtle point is that a £1400 machine should have a way around it. The clearly is an alternative, because Minelab have managed it,
