Metal Detecting

I go to a beach that has a flat top section, seldom covered by the tide and then a steep slope down to the waters edge at low tide.

I've had lots of finds but only two rings. These were about two feet apart,totally unconnected and found at the same time, both 2 inches down in fine shingle at the high tide mark.

Is this a where they should be found or is there a better place to find rings on the beach. My Garrett Ace 150 works well in wet sand and shallow water producing coins and ammo but no rings.

On dry sand I search in all metal mode on full strength and in the wet in jewellry mode on 3 bars.

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Im glad you posted this I have been wondering the same question. I have only found 1 ring and it was only costume jewelery this was found in the dry sand where people sit and must of been lost building sand castles etc. the only find we have made in the wet is 4p so not a great deal there. I must admit we dont spend enought time on the high tide or the wet sand as we should because we are finding quite a bit in the dry. I read everyone elses posts that they find rings nearly everytime they venture out but have noticed there location is the south coast and Cornwall where the tourist areas are and the better weather. Up here in the north the weather is not as good and I dont see many adults in the sea for them to loose rings and most of our finds are coinage and bottle tops. I will wait to see where people say the rings are and would be interesting to see where in the country they live in relation to the number of ring finds
