this has been frying my Noggin for a while so hopefully someone will know. I asked a question about using the deus under water and was told there was a mod that i tried in a bowl of water and seemed to work. This involved an Ariel wire running from the transmitter unit on the coil to the receiver unit on the control box.
My question is this. Wouldnt the coil pick up the copper wire in the cable that strapped to it and give false readings ? Maybes some of you have tried it in the sea/river and been successful.

Ive tried attaching a metal torch to the lower shaft of my detector for a low light remedy.I found that as long as the metal item is securely/firmly attached with no movement when detecting there was not a problem/signal from item.Tape, rubber bands etc,..Guess you'll just have to give it a go. :)

Thanks for that human. Giving the beach a whirl tomorrow so it gives me the chance to try it out properly. I'll pop into maplin's this afternoon and see What thin ariel wire they have and get some advice too.

ready to test the surf tomorrow with the deus. Tried it in a bowl of water. Roughly 5 inches down in the water with an old penny under the bowl. Picked it up No problem.

Thanks G. You already gave them settings in an earlier thread mate but my beach is highly mineralised and full of sea coal.
Not sure What you mean about ruining the coil, the black wire is Just taped to the coil, No damage. There is no other way of making it work under water without the wire as wireless signals cannot pass through water. Hope that helps

Hi Tomo,
just got my Deus yesterday and started reading the threads, did your "mod" work ok?
