Hi all,
I went out earlier for an hour with the deus, and as im new to it (Got it on thursday) i am having trouble understanding some signals. I keep getting small blips but that is with an iron tone - although it keeps giving high numbers.
I dig it just to find it is iron
I told myself not to just leave it as it could be a decent target next to an iron object; So can you please tell me how to 'differentiate' between targets.
I understand i wont just learn the deus like *Clicks finger* that, and i just thought i would ask rather than get annoyed
P.S. I do go into Gmaxx setting occasionally but that also gives me a small blip and high conductivity
*EDIT* P.P.S. Do you only dig the solid signals?
Thanks for your time and Happy hunting,
Sam

As you get used to the Deus, all the sounds start to get "multi aural" therefore becoming wider and more accurate. Iron will become a "stretched" sound rather than an apparently "clean" signal.
Each time you venture out, more signals will take on new boundaries.
Numbers between 0 and 35 ish are normally trash. This is similar with the high 90's although this is NOT always the case as a lot of copper coinage can register these figures.
Hence the sound is "stretched" if iron is present. Conversely, a clean "sharp" signal will need digging!
The top guys using the Deus dont even use the ID display, they just go off the sound!

Thanks very much for that ... so if its a piece of iron next to a small coin, would it be a 'stretched' signal then a 'clean' signal afterward?
Thanks again and Happy hunting,
Sam

Hi Sam,
alot depends on the contents of the soil too, If youve got a really iron infested / trashy site ?
the fewer the tones the better ( I found ) until you get used to the machine.
Try a 2 tone programme, this way you get a low tone for Iron and a high tone for a good target.
But you have to go slow and low to pick out the goodies from the junk, it also picks out the goodies that are up against the junk too.
It just simplifies things to get you off and running.
Ive posted a Very good programme for such sites, youll find it in the Deus programme section.
Hope this helps.
Phil.
