On Radio Merseyside news today 70 year old woman trapped up to waist in quicksand on Crosby beach for an hour .I have not seen any notices when I have been detecting there but I don't go very far down beach as it is muddy in places but have seen people near waters edge when tide is low, probably that's were the quicksand is.So next time you are on Crosby be aware of the hidden danger ,does anyone know where the quicksand is or does it shift from time to time?

I saw a Northwest tonight programme last year and it was highlighting the dangers of the quicksand at Crosby and what to do if you get stuck. It shown a rescue and it was pretty scary stuff.

It's sad to say but people have their minds so full of other things, they don't see signs. At least you have a beach warden and signs. At Talacr, even on Bank Holidays, there is no beach warden, life guard, or big warning signs. The best you get are some A4 notices on the public notice boards and they don't use the word "qicksand "
OH, Nooooo; they say " soft sand ". Don't frighten the punters! I had a chat with the life guards at Rhyl and asked how was it that there were loads of lifeguards at Rhyl and not one at Talacre? Different county boyo.
