Metal Detecting

Well while detecting on the beach on sunday i found 3 pound coins and a penny all together.

my wife wanted to have a go at cleaning a coin so i took the pound coins and the penny out.

handed it to her and said have a go at cleaning this penny then.

she examined it a bit a said thats not a penny but i cant read it.

so i scanned it to find it was a 1924 farthing?

1. what on earth was it doing mixed in with pound coins.
2.i know my eyes are bad but fancy missing that.
3.all you beach hunters check your penny carefully

One of life's little mysterys, I have dug an old coin only to have another good signal in the same hole, thinking I had a coin spill only for it to be a bit of rubbish
