Well looked on the ncmd web map ,says ok too md ?. drove all the way there ( in the middle ov nowhere ) only to see PRIVATE beach plastered everywhere. saw one sign saying owners the bungalow ?. so find said property , knocks on door & explain could i have permission to go on beach etc. nice old gent ( so i thought )

. only to be told very rudely to go ( few swear words ) & not come back. charming

. so had to leave and drive another 20 mile to nearest beach , only to find a pound ( cost me £2 for carpark ) & lots ov copper etc. o well least was nice day

Hi there, sorry to hear about your encounter with such a pleasant chap....not! Unfortunately I believe that Shingle Street is a SSSI.

I'm not sure where you went, but if you go the end of the rd where the Bawdsey ferry goes to Felixstowe and the entrance to the school is (ex Guardroom of RAF Bawdsey) you can get round to the shingle beach from there and it is fine to detect. You take the public footpath that runs along side the yacht club storage area.
