13" Deus Coil

I have recently got a S/H 13" Deus coil and I finally got to take it out yesterday after fitting Coil Balance Adapter to right the Center of Gravity problem with them.
All I can say is it's darn perfect! I found it worked very similar to the 9" coil but with obviously greater depth and coverage.
It found a rather clipped Charles 1st Penny at around 7 inches depth so it is now trusted by me to find the nice ones :)

I love it!

I run one program and one program only on anything other than wet beach. I just tailor my settings on the one prog to suit what I am detecting on. I don't use multiple programs.

Disc = 0
Sens = reduced down to virtually illiminate background noise.
Freq = 18KHz or maybe lower but I am an 18KHz man :)
Iron Vol = 0
React = 2-4 depending on Iron contamination
Silencer = 2
Audio R = 3
Notch = normally 0 but 01-07 if there is iron present

THE IMPORTANT BIT :)
4 tones =
200Hz - 0
200Hz - 0
547Hz - 25 or 30 depending on amount of crap targets
791Hz - 93
This allows you to have the discrimination setting at ZERO, where it wan't to be! and used AUDIO TONES for you to eliminate Iron. Low 200Hz tones means Iron, Adjustable with the 547Hz tone, all other tones = DIG!!!

GB - Always on tracking

I use Notch and Reactivity/Silencer to remove Iron noise if it there is a lot but normally NO notch and deffo NO discrimination and put up with the odd blast of Iron noise. Sometimes it is nice to know it's there!
The less discrimination and reactivity you can get away with the deeper you are going to be searching.
I have my Sens set so there is always a bit of chatter going on in the background, not too much but enough to know there is something going on.

Get used to a set of settings, keep your tones on all programs, if your going to use the programs, all the same so you get used to the same tones for ALL progs, saves any confusion.

Remove the programs selections from the Deus, stick with one program and work only with that one and you have a infinitely adjustable, easy to read GREAT metal detector!!

I think it's common knowledge that the 13" coil has balance issues. Mine felt out of balance, unlike the 9" coil, and nose heavy without the adapter and perfectly balanced with and that's enough for me to like it and to recommend it to others.
I've read Norfolk Wolfs write up's and many others but I ended up coming to my own conclusions about the inner sanctums of the Deus, as I do with most other things :)
One persons opinion can be another persons nemesis :)

i think i will wait until the next coil is released not 13 inch not 9 inch but in between i did see it at Regton but cannot remember the size =)) ummm i think it was 11 inches ::g But then again i find plenty with a 9 inch coil so why spend more money to get another 2 inches of depth ;)

I am truly hoping to get out this weekend with it and I will update my findings.

I must say though, using the 9" coil before Xmas in all that rainy, mud inducing weather we had, it kind of stood me in good stead for getting used to swinging a 'bigger' lump on the end of my stems........ With all the clagged on mud on the 9, it felt very similar to swinging the 13" coil :)

I wonder how the 132 coil will feel all clagged up ;)

To date, I love the big coil!

I took the 13" coil out for 3 hours last Sunday morning and at the end of it I certainly knew I had been swinging it around! Yes it's heavier than the 9" :)
I have got it sorted though and am more than happy with it! So much so, I came home, had some dinner then went out again for another 2.5 hours :D

Can't wait for V3 software!
