This was one of the four rings that I found on March 16th.on one of our Queensland beaches.Weight 8.95 grams & at least 18ct.
I found it after a big storm up near the high tide mark up among a very rocky beach.
Also found in the same area where a number of old English coins ... 1880 threepence, 1881 sixpence & a 1855 shilling, all with clear readable dates.

I have had it looked at by a few local jewelers & all agree that the unusual diamond cuts are "Old European diamond cut" .. This cutting style began to disappear around the turn of the nineteenth century.

So all where in agreement that the ring is probably at least a 100 years old & the diamonds are of an excellent quality. They all suggested that I get it professionally valued.
None of them where happy too send such a possible valuable ring away either by post or courier & put himself or his company at risk & suggested that I contact the Valuers myself re shipping or perhaps travel & visit them in person.

As I live a few hundred miles from the nearest city with a certified valuer this may eventually be the only safe option for me.
Hoping to get the ring valued later this week.

In true Crocodile Dundee style Meggie strolls onto the forum, casually glances around and says ' you call that a ring, thats not a ring, THIS is a ring!' Wow, what a find though. I bet that got your heart racing.

Thanks for posting that beauty Meggie, it is certainly a sparkler and those diamonds look very expensive to me.

If I found a ring like that then I would have to get it valued on the way home from detecting because as soon as the wife saw it then it would be on her finger and I would have to ask permission to even look at it again =))

Thats really not a bad days work. I'm yet to have a three ring day let alone a four ringer! I notice you list a Tesoro Compadre as one of your detectors,i've been toying with picking one up myself and was wondering how you liked it?

Hi, the Compadre lives in my car & is always available for a sudden quick hunt.
I basically bought it to potter around the kids playgrounds (tot lots)
Also it is a killer on small gold rings & fine gold chains that other machines seem to miss.

I'd read that they are great for picking up the small fine stuff which obviously appealed to me,but it also looks so light and easy to use.I like the idea of having something easy on standby so that i can just pick up and go.I use a PI for my beach work and sometimes i feel like i'm preparing for battle with all the kit i have to put on and carry!

* A$10,804 (£7400) *

Well I finally had the valuation done & always felt that 10k would be incredible so I'm certainly not complaining.

So it just goes to show that it's out there .. right place, right time. :

Thanks for all your interest & support,

Meggie ...
